"Spaceball-Two" (spaceball-two)

Went out for a smoke after lunch (don't smoke kids, it's bad) and saw this nice little Mazda. Mrs. Spaceball is going to need an upgrade soon. Would Oppo mind enlightening me on some of it's features, qualities or shortcomings? Are there spiders in it?

There are spiders, but they're in the back of the car. The car has plenty of Zoom-Zoom, so step on the gas and you can get away from them... I think.

Seems to be among the bests in class according to reviews and quite the most fun to drive!

It's garnering rave reviews everywhere. Car and Driver even rated it above the new Accord. Awesome gas mileage, fun to drive and pretty affordable. I test drove a base model (sans those 19 inch wheels) and loved it. If only I had money.

Thank you. My wife has an 06 Corolla (type S, cuz faux race car) that she bought new. Mere months before we got together and it needs to get gone with a quickness.

Spiders were only in the MURICAN built cars, '09-'13.
Lots of cool tech in the higher trim levels, handling is great.
Shortcomings are wind noise and lack of power. Also handbrake placement.
I may have written a review on the car.

no spiders downside is front wheel drive upside the base sport package starts at a little under 21000 comes with a manual gets 41 mpg and comes with what is supposedly a superb dash all analogue unless you trade up where you get the touchscreen which as ever is no good.

Well the Mrs. won't be using a manual. I'll have to check out the u.i. on the system.

Really wind noise? How in this day is that an issue?

Mazda a are known for not doing well with salt. That was older Mazdas so that may not be true for recent ones.

Bad seals or lack of insulation on the doors. Test drive first!

Not a problem here in Seattle. They don't use salt and when it snows everything shuts down.

Ah so you should be good it would be a significant upgrade over the Corolla in every way you could think and looks awesome from every angle.

My 10 year old A4 is treats me better than that fucking Corolla. Which is funny because I've owned and loved two different Toy trucks / suv.

Lol I hear you. Well I knew the car was for the Mrs. So it'll be an upgrade for her but there will probably be a mid model refresh with the Mazda 3 interior which looks much better and refined than the current 6.

That's very helpful because our upgrade is still a few months off. Thank you.

Honestly, it's okay. It's not a drivers car...but more so a car that tries to be a driver car. Sure, compared to it's competitors it's the most "driver" focused, but in truth, you're with another FWD econo box that happens to look very good.
I'd rather save up and get a WRX. Or really swing it and get a Chevy SS.

This would be a replacement for my wife's dd an 06 Corolla. So really when it comes to upgrades the sky is the limit.

Just a quick comparison. I know most hate the tacked on screen but it ain't going anywhere anytime soon. They make look similar but sit in both and you'll see a difference.

My wife has a fully loaded 2014 6. It has been a tremendous pleasure to drive. I'm not sure if the FWD naysayers have actually spent time with this car or not, but it's simply not an issue on public roads. It is very much a driver's car. There's a reason the publications have given it great reviews, and it's not because Mazda is buying them off.

It sounded like the back windows were open a hair. Drove me nuts the whole time I was on the highway. Might have been just that car, as it was an ex-Mazda employee's demo. I haven't heard anyone else complain.

You're welcome. If there's anything in particular you want to know about it, ask. I'll be as descriptive as I can.
